This beautiful logo makes it's way into the finest details of the restaurant.
We had a lot of fun creating not just the interiors, but the signature colors, branding, logo, menu design and even the take-out packaging for JP Kitchen. And we were do able to it all on a budget.
This restaurant, launched by Kalvin and Ken Tang in a continuation of their parents’ legacy at the Jade Palace, a Billings institution, offers a modern take on Chinese food. Our design reflects that. A strong red and black palette sets the tone for an urban-edge experience featuring untinted polished concrete floors, a grid of black soffits, and a stainless-steel-walled open kitchen.
Sixteen-foot-long communal oak tables with waterfall edges are flanked by black reproduction Jean Prouve chairs and red-topped Emeco stools. White containers with clusters of bright red chopsticks serve as exclamation points within the moody interior. An array of Caravaggio pendants — oversized black domes with red cords — hanging low above the tables creates intimacy and keeps the focus on the food. (As it should; JP Kitchen’s famous potstickers are killer.)
From the macro to the micro, we loved every aspect of this project, so much so that we even made the menus by hand. “They gave us a chance to really be creative for them,” says Jeremiah Young. “We chose durable materials and a palette that’s never going to age. This design will stay fresh for a very long time.”
