We’re not sure if this room for a little boy is more satisfying for him or for us—because it was so much fun to layer in both playfulness and sophistication. Starting with the most charming Cath Kidston fabric and wallpaper (added to the ceiling, no less, so the little guy can enjoy it looking up from him crib), we took every opportunity to let the pattern take the lead. Comfortable carpet, bright and easy to touch up white walls, original art that’s both child-like and serious, a black dresser he’ll keep his whole life, a chair upholstered in Harris Tweed—and of course a touch of plaid—make this a room with elements to grow up with.
